Day 5: Whole 30

Well...I've made it 5 days on Whole30 and feel like absolute crap. For some reason, with my healthy eating habits I thought this would be easy. I guess I didn't realize how many hidden things there really were in my diet- honey, stevia, oatmeal, peanut butter, etc. Just those little things that you have daily. I felt pretty bad last night and decided I wasn't going in to work today (good call, I had a slight fever and felt worse today). I was thinking that maybe it was a cold since it's that time of year, but from what I've read, this seems to be a side effect of the Whole30. My poor body is detoxifying itself. Someone even called it the carb flu haha. Probably correct since I feel like I could run a marathon even feeling this bad, just to get a piece of bread or a cookie.

Usually when I'm sick, I crave spicy Cheetos and a Slurpee from 7/11. Instead of caving, I told myself it would just make things worse. And it would. If my body is already fighting, feeding it comfort food would just delay me getting better (food for thought the next time you're sick). So, my meal today was: egg whites with cayenne pepper and mashed sweet potato with coconut oil; Shakeology (technically not Whole30 approved because of the whey and stevia, but I'm NOT giving that up); some almonds and sunflower seeds; spinach sliders and carrots. Not too shabby huh? AND, to make me sound like a superhero here (ha!), my husband decided to eat pizza in front of me for dinner and it DIDN'T EVEN LOOK/SOUND/SMELL GOOD! Whoo hoo! I'd call that progress. :) Stay tuned for the next few days and pray you don't read about a girl who murdered for carbs.
