About Me
Hmm where to start. Well the top photos are the most recent at the good ‘ol age of 31. In the bottom photo (I’m the one on the left), I was 21. Other than being ridiculously pale in both, the similarities end. Believe it or not, I was in the military at 21. I served 8 years (4 active, 4 reserve) in the Air Force and was in the worst shape of my life. Weird, huh? Everyone always thinks you work out, but really, it’s like a once a year push up, sit up and 2mi run. Pretty weak. I also had terrible eating habits…I think it’s pretty equivalent to the “Freshman 15.” I ate donuts. I ate pizza. I drank soda. I ate anything and everything that sounded good. One day I looked in the mirror and though, ‘oh hell no.’ What happened to the skinny me?? In high school I was 115lbs and a size 4. At 21 I was 155 and a size 11 (trust me, that was a good pic). Today, at 31, I’m 135 and a size 4…muscle weighs more than fat!So you ask…what did I do? Well, a lot of trial and error. I did several years of going to the gym and doing the same machines over and over and over. Of course I saw no results. I was still also eating crap. When I finally moved to Oregon for college, I started eating healthier. Hmmm…and weight started dropping. An interesting concept, huh? But I plateaued and still didn’t see the results I wanted, but I kept doing the same lame gym workout. I still wasn’t eating great btw. Finally, when I moved to Denver I started doing Crossfit. Wow I got in good shape but $150/mo was a lot for me to spend. I did love it though, so I kept it up until… the owner shut it down. It was a sad day here in D-town. I was back to the lame gym. Finally, one day a coworker (46yr old male) suggested P90x. Um..no thanks I said. He kept pushing it though. Day in and day out he’d say “Seriously Kira, P90x got me in the best shape of my life.” So eventually I said what the heck and bought it off an infomercial. Not bad I must say, but my lazy butt ultimately got tired of it and quit. At that point I met a Beachbody coach online who invited me to join a challenge group. This kept me accountable, and I started subscribing to Oxygen magazine and Clean Eating magazine (you NEED both. Seriously. Like a dog needs a bone.) which helped me with my still not-so-great eating habits. Loved loved loved the challenge group. Everyone was so nice and I was motivated. Long story short (ok not really, this is like the most I’ve written EVER) I transformed my body with the challenge groups and decided I wanted to be a coach too and even began working on a Nutrition degree. Now I’m kicking my butt even more with ChaLean extreme and Body Beast (both which I highly recommend)…so fun! I’m also drinking Shakeology to help this darned sweet tooth. I could talk all day about how becoming a coach has changed me, but I bet I’ve bored everyone and you aren’t even reading anymore.
Anyhow, I’m here to help. Ask me fitness advice. Ask me for recipes (clean + paleo + almost any diet). Ask me to start a challenge group to help motivate you. Ask me how to become a coach yourself.
